Dentistry runs deep in Dr. Roelien Stapelberg’s family. Her grandfather was a general dentist and lecturer at the University of Pretoria, and her father is one of South Africa’s leading orthodontists. Growing up surrounded by braces, crooked teeth, and the happy smiles of patients completing their treatment, she found her calling early - to create beautiful, healthy smiles that inspire confidence.
After earning her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Pretoria in 2006, Dr. Roelien immediately pursued advanced postgraduate training to specialize in orthodontics. In 2009, she obtained Diploma Certificates in Orthodontics and Maxillofacial & Oral Surgery (Odontology) from the University of Pretoria, marking the start of her orthodontic career.
That same year, she also earned her Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. In 2013, she completed her Master’s Degree in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics from European University College and Malmö University in Sweden, further strengthening her expertise in the field.
She is an Invisalign EMEA Speaker and a Platinum Elite Invisalign Provider, a distinction earned through years of experience, advanced expertise in aligner therapy, and a commitment to delivering the highest quality of personalized care using the latest technology.
Her clinical expertise spans comprehensive orthodontic treatment for children, teens, and adults, aesthetic orthodontics with invisible braces, complex interdisciplinary cases requiring collaboration across dental specialties, as well as surgical orthodontics and early orthodontic treatment in children.
For 8 years, Dr. Roelien has served as a faculty member and clinical instructor at European University College. Additionally, she has published several international research papers on accelerated orthodontic techniques and long-term treatment stability.
She currently serves as an Orthodontic Specialist at Snö Dental Clinics in Abu Dhabi and practices as a Consultant Orthodontist in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
She is an active member of the South African Dental Association, the South African Society of Orthodontists, the World Federation of Orthodontists, and the American Association of Orthodontists. She is also a Provisional Diplomat of the European Orthodontic Society.
She speaks English and Afrikaans.
